RITA MOSS SINGS “DAYDREAM”

By Mike Russell

The Fantastic Vocal Stylings of RITA MOSS appearing at Islandia Hotel, San Diego, California 2960’s and 1970’s.

Miss Rita Moss gained fame in the 1960’s when she enchanted thousands of fans with her 4 octave range. She vocalized for tourists and locals who just couldn’t get enough of her singing.  Her birthday is July 4th, but no one knew what year. She sang her way to the top recording labels, but never was interested in touring. Rita Moss, brings us memories of a great period in our history. Here is a fantastic, very Yma Sumac-esque, rendition of a beautiful song by the great yet unfortunately forgotten singer Rita Moss. A Los Angeles-based pianist and singer who will never be forgotten.

I really miss Rita Moss and her beautiful voice I became a friend of hers and always wonder what happened to her.
I always felt that being so popular in San Diego for so long That she should of been reconized world wide

  2. Mike Russell says:

Absolutely correct. She was very popular in the ’60’s as you probably recall at Islandia Hotel. I believe she took a law course after retiring from singing, but haven’t been able to find her in San Diego, CA
ever since. Thanks for your comment. I also recall Phoebe Snow and Yma Sumac with super wide range voices. We still have Mariah Carey with a different type of song style, however, the super wide range of vocalizing. Please see more of Rita Moss on You Tube.com search for RITA MOSS videos
