Home delivery of mail which now includes postal mail, Amazon delivery and credit cards going to protect their valuables when thieves are stealing from them while they are at work? One local mail customer had his new credit card stolen that was for purchasing building supplies. He reported his card stolen and it was soon learned that $thousands of dollars of building materials had been illegally purchased from all around southern California. After month of investigation he still is waiting for the case to be closed.
Some home delivery customers are putting locks on their mail boxes to ensure they receive their mail.
A few months ago the Big Bear City post office was broken into and many envelopes and packages were stolen. When is this going to be stopped. What other methods can be protected when UPS, FedEX packages are stolen from their front porches or inside from gates?
The situation is not only on the increase in Westwood, Beverly Hills, and other locations around southern California but also in other areas of our nation.
The USPS is have budget problems at present and has been begging the government for added money to pay department employees and to buy new equipment. But the most serious thing is that thieves when caught and found guilty of mail theft they are suffer charges of misdemeanors.
Our laws need to be changed and new safer ways of protecting our mail needs to be enacted.
