A California amateur astronomer has found what he believes to be evidence of life on Mars, and now, NASA’s Jet Propulsion Lab is investigating. David Martines uploaded a video to You Tube that shows a “white, cylindrical object” that he calls “Bio Station Alpha” because he assumes it is a sign of something living in it, past or present.
NASA is investigating to verify that the claim is a glitch in the digital imaging and not proof of Martian life, but Martines isn’t buying it. He believes it is over 700 feet long and 150 feet wide, and says,
“It could be a powerstation or it could be a biological containment or it could be a glorified garage — hope it’s not a weapon. Whoever put it up there had a purpose I’m sure. I couldn’t imagine what the purpose was. I couldn’t imagine why anybody would want to live on Mars.”
People viewing the video don’t seem to be at a loss for explanations, although they are at odds as to what the object might actually be. One commenter says “Clearly an alien/man-made Mars station that is 700 ft long.” Skeptics are taking pot-shots at the claims, of course, snorting it is just another “Face on Mars” theory.
Martines isn’t deterred. He has posted the coordinates of “Bio Station Alpha” at 71 49’19.73″N 29 33’06.53″W, reports Fox News, so if you have Google Earth software, give the guy the benefit of the doubt and check it out.
Martines posted “I sort of doubt NASA has anything to do with this. I don’t know if NASA even knows about this.” Well, they sure know about it now, Mr. Martines, and whatever explanation NASA gives, it won’t satisfy the true believers of life on Mars..
