One-Fourth of Fighter Pilot Jobs Not Filled!

The U.S. military’s fighter shortage is expected to get worse over the next three to five years, and more emphasis should be placed on how the Air ForceNavy and Marine Corps reevaluate their fighter pilot workloads and training opportunities before the problem reaches a point of no return, according to a new Government Accountability Office report.

According to the GAO report, issued Wednesday, each of the services’ fighter pilot shortage gaps hovers at roughly 25 percent. The Air Force has the largest gap, which is expected to grow until at least 2023.
