BIG BEAR LAKE, CA 19 June 2017, Monday; fire and smoke showed up early on Monday, June 19 east of Big Bear Lake off of Highway 18 and Holcomb Valley Road. By the end of the day the fire had burned more than 850 acres of timber and brush.
It is now midnight and crews of firer fighters are still at it. One helicopter is flying into the area dropping water and crews can be seen working hard to cut off the streams of flames that are crossing one part of the Pacific Crest Trail which is in the area. The Waste Management building and transfer site near the flames has been abandoned earlier Monday. A bulldozer is currently cutting a wide swathe at one point.
Tuesday will be another hot day here in the Big Bear Lake area and that will send the flames moving in a wider area of the dry timber and brush covered area.
